Native to Eastern North America. It is the national tree of Canada and its leaf is on our flag. Produces sweet sap which is made into maple syrup.

Insignificant yellow-green flowers appear before the foliage. Two-winged samaras ripen in the fall.
Foliage: Large, straight, upright habit with a dense, rounded crown. Medium green leaves turn shades of yellow, orange and red in the fall.
