Also known as 'Sweet Scented Bedstraw', this is a great ground cover for shady sites, and an excellent foil for spring bulbs. The sweetly hay scented foliage appears in whorls around the stems, growing into a mat, over time. The small heads of tiny white flowers appear in spring. Woodruff is sometimes used to make herbal teas, and is a component of "May Wine"- a white wine based punch flavoured with woodruff, orange and pineapple
