'Merlot' is a choice selection of Virginia Sweetspire, a native of the southeastern United States. This compact form of the shrub is covered in a cloak of rich green leaves, that highight its bottlebrush-like panicles of fragrant white flowers. With the onset of Autumn, the foliage takes on dramatic tones of red and burgundy, often lasting into early winter.
