This delightful native of New Zealand is commonly known as 'Brass Buttons', and is a uniquely appealing plant where dense low growth is desired. Although barely 5 cm tall, its thick mat of striking bronze purple fern-like foliage with green highlights never fails to draw comment. Curious yellow button-like flowers appear in early Summer. The delicate foliage can withstand light foot traffic, making it an ideal candidate as a ground cover or for planting between flagstones
