This new Magnolia cultivar originated in New Zealand, and will be a very welcome addition to any garden. 'Burgundy Star' carries an abundance of lightly fragrant, large claret red buds on a well shaped small tree. The flowers have excellent substance, and slowly age to a deep rose.
