Sometimes you just need a large variegated ornamental grass to provide the finishing touch to a garden, and this is one to consider. 'Strictus' was awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its tall, upright clumps of stiff rich green foliage displaying horizontal yellow bands. Each blade stands out, like so many porcupine quills. Much like other members of the genus, flower plumes arise in late summer and persist, along with the foliage into the winter.
