'Bartzella' is a spectacular example of an intersectional, or Itoh peony, the result of crossing a herbaceous garden peony with a tree peony. Itoh peonies have inherited improved structure and longer bloom period from their tree peony parents. When fully mature, Bartzella can produce up to 80 large, fragrant soft yellow semi double, to fully double blooms, each marked with rusty red central flares. Winner of both the American Peony Society Award of Landscape Merit and the Gold Medal .
