'Hummel' means Bumblebee in German, so it is little wonder why this plant received its name. 'Hummelo' can be counted on to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds throughout the summer, with its dense upright spikes of rose-lavender flowers. All of this comes from a tidy mound of glossy dark green leaves... little wonder it was the Perennial Plant Association's Plant of the Year for 2019! It has more recently been  listed as Stachys officinalis 'Hummelo'
