Spiderworts have a long history as welcome garden plants, and 'Zwanenburg Blue' is no exception to that rule. This Dutch selection produces a lush clump of rich green iris-like foliage that is crowned by terminal clusters of large triangular violet blue flowers. Although each bloom lasts only a day, buds open successively, producing a lengthy display. Cut the plants back after the end of the first flush of blooms, to promote late season flowering.
