The "Toad Lilies" are a relative newcomer to western gardens, but are welcomed because of their intricate flowers that appear so late in the season. 'Empress' is a stunning example, and she lives up to her name. This selection bears loose clusters of larger than normal pristine white flowers, each heavily spotted with royal purple. The intricate blooms make excellent cut flowers, and deserve a spot in the garden where they can be appreciated at close range
